Superstar forward Kevin Durant is now a Houston Rocket. According to CNN, the Phoenix Suns All Star and former league MVP has been traded to the Rockets for guard Jalen Green, guard/forward Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the 2025 draft and five second-round picks.
Durant got the news during an appearance at Fanatic Fest on Sunday (June 22).

“Being a part of the Houston Rockets, I’m looking forward to it,” Durant told Kay Adams after the trade was announced. “Crazy, crazy last couple of weeks, but I’m glad it’s over with.”
The trade to Houston instantly makes the Rockets title contenders as Durant joins a team that has guard Fred VanVleet, 2025 All-Star center Alperen Sengun and All-Defensive first-team Amen Thompson.
“They had a great season last year, love their leadership,” Durant says. “I felt like I’d be a good addition.”
The news of Durant’s trade happened on the same day that the Oklahoma City Thunder took home the 2025 NBA title following their Game 7 win over the Indiana Pacers. The championship is first in the franchise's 17 year history in Oklahoma City. The Thunder took down the Pacers with a 103-91 victory. The game was clouded by an injury to Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton; whose father confirmed Haliburton suffered a right Achilles injury while driving to the basket in the first quarter. He would be ruled out for the rest of the game.
As far as his departure from the Phoenix Suns, Durant was diplomatic.
“They wanted me to go. They got what they wanted, and I got what I wanted,” the two-time NBA champion said about his now former team. “We can move on and good luck to them going forward, always remember my time there.”
